Not only is Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards one of the top superstars in the NBA today, but he also happens to be one of the fastest swimmers in the country — at least according to the 22-year-old himself.
In a recent interview, Edwards revealed that he felt he could compete in the Olympics in swimming, which is going to be a bit of a potential side quest for him as he looks to help USA Basketball bring home the gold in Paris.
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards Clowns Team USA Teammates

When Edwards was asked if he thought he was the best swimmer on the Team USA squad, the two-time All-Star made it clear that he had no doubt in his mind that he was. He then went through the roster one by one to determine which of his teammates would pose the biggest challenge for him in the pool.
Apparently, no one is touching him in a freestyle competition.
“My only challengers are [Devin Booker] when he might not know how to swim,” Edwards said. “Jrue [Holiday] might drown. And [Tyrese] Haliburton, oh my god. If Haliburton beat me then I just need to never touch the water again.”

That’s savage.

The fact of the matter, however, is that he might be right. Edwards is arguably the most athletic player on the squad and this is not the first time it has been revealed that he’s an excellent swimmer.
Whatever the case might be, Team USA will need him more on the court than on the swimming pool once the Olympic Games commence.
