Anthony Edwards believes the Minnesota Timberwolves would’ve had a better chance of beating the Phoenix Suns on Monday night if their best defensive player had stayed on the court for the whole game.

Rudy Gobert was ejected in the third period of last night’s 108-105 home loss against the Phoenix Suns, as he shoved an airborne Mark Williams, who was going for a dunk. The Minnesota Timberwolves star eventually received a Flagrant 2 and was ejected after review.
“You can’t make up for Rudy’s absence,” Edwards said via Jace Frederick of the Pioneer Press. “When he’s in the game, they don’t want to go down there and finish. Of course, he’s truly missed when he’s not on the court.”

Gobert finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds on 7-for-9 shooting from the field in 21 minutes of action. The Minnesota Timberwolves center now has four flagrant fouls this season, one away from a suspension.
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Julius Randle makes painful admission after losing to the Phoenix Suns
The Minnesota Timberwolves saw their five-game winning streak end at the hands of the undermanned Phoenix Suns, and Julius Randle said they have no one to blame but themselves for the close loss.

“We’ve been easing ourselves into games and cover that with a good amount of energy in the 3rd and 4th… We aren’t playing our best basketball. We know we can’t consistently win like that. So, I think tonight, we got a little bit of what we deserved from this,” Randle admitted.
Randle finished the game with 21 points, three rebounds, and eight assists on 7-for-11 shooting. On the other hand, Anthony Edwards went off for 40 points and nine rebounds on 15-for-21 shooting.
