Rudy Gobert was instrumental in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 108-83 blowout win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday evening, with both teams missing several key players like Anthony Edwards (foot), Stephen Curry (knee), and Draymond Green (back).
The four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year had 15 points, 17 rebounds, and two blocks on 5-for-7 shooting from the field in 35 minutes of action. During the postgame presser, Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch made sure to give Gobert his flowers when he praised their work on the defensive end.
“They forget a lot of things, yeah. You know, you go through moods, and everything starts on the defensive end. I thought Rudy was dominant tonight. We need that Rudy every single night. That’s been key for us this season,” Finch said of Gobert via Andrew Dukowitz of Zone Coverage.
“Because those are the things that are not necessary, cute… The (NBA) fans, they care about how many points you score or what stats you get. So I think sometimes we might get distracted by that, but championship teams don’t get distracted,” Gobert said about playing defense.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Bones Hyland repays coaches’ trust by putting up solid performance vs. Golden State Warriors
Bones Hyland received an uptick in usage and playing time, with Anthony Edwards on the sidelines, and he provided a huge spark off the bench against the Golden State Warriors last night.
The 25-year-old combo guard dropped 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals on 6-for-9 shooting from the field across 25 minutes of action. He was the Minnesota Timberwolves’ second-leading scorer behind Julius Randle, who contributed 18 points.
“It’s big man, a coach who believes in you can take your game to another level. Just having that confidence and belief in you, especially when you don’t have it going for three or four games. They don’t think too hard on that, you know?” Hyland said.
