“Joel Embiid should be traded now.” “The Philadelphia 76ers are doomed and Tyrese Maxey should be the new franchise player.”
These are the common comments that came out of the report that the two Sixers All-Stars had a tensed meeting, with Maxey calling out Joel Embiid for always arriving late.

Things might have just been exaggerated according to former Sixer Lou Williams.
The three-time NBA Sixth Man said the two remains close and suggested that what occurred in the meeting was not a call out of anyone specific but team members just trying to stay on track when it comes to their collective goals.
“From my understanding, they just had a conversation on accountability, just keeping everybody in check you know? And sometimes, you just got to have that as a team to make sure we all on the same page,” Williams said during an appearance at the “Run it Back” podcast.
“It wasn’t as much as Tyrese Maxey challenging Joel Embiid as it’s been stated.”

The 76ers are currently 2-11, dead last in the Eastern Conference and the entire league. Embiid has played just 3 games so far while Maxey remains out with no timetable for return.
Panic is seeping in for their fans not just for this season but also for their immediate future.
Details of alleged Joel Embiid-Tyrese Maxey confrontation
The Sixers team is marred with injuries, including to new recruit and supposed second best player Paul George.

However, an NBA insider revealed that they are more concerned with Embiid’s work ethics. Sam Amick of The Athletic wrote:
According to the team and league sources, Maxey highlighted the need for Embiid to set a better example as a leader daily while emphasizing the importance of timeliness.
The message was that everything within their program starts with the big man and that he must be better when it comes to his leadership. League and team sources said Embiid heard the message while also expressing a lack of clarity and occasional frustration about how he is being used on the court.
The article stated, too, that they are also concerned with team chemistry although it clarified that Embiid and Maxey are doing alright in that department.
