No one watching the 2024 NBA Draft expected Bronny James to be mentioned in the first round. Too many players on the board performed better than him last season for him to even get considered this early. Any delusional Bronny fan who believed he could sneak into the latter picks of the first round was quickly humbled by his absence.
However, that doesn’t mean Bronny will go undrafted. King James’ agent wildly claimed that at least three teams would be interested in the oldest son of the future Hall of Fame forward. Moreover, the fact that he got invited to the Combine means that there are teams at least interested in giving him a look.
Now that the draft is headed to Day 2, one question is on everyone’s lips: will Bronny even be mentioned in this year’s draft at all?
Bronny James hopes to hear his name mentioned in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft
One may think that the James family isn’t invested in the situation involving their son’s NBA dreams, but the Associated Press reported that they were in New York during draft week. That’s as clear a sign as any that the family expects the eldest child to have a shot in the NBA.
The fact that the James family didn’t show up during the first round means that they expected Bronny to be snubbed. It’s not hard to see why, though: he averaged a measly 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in his lone year with the Trojans.
The Los Angeles Lakers would be the team that would most benefit out of drafting Bronny in the second round of the Draft. While LeBron doesn’t show it, he will be thrilled to have an opportunity to share an NBA court with his son as teammates.
However, any other team that would like to invest in a high-ceiling player with good physical tools will find Bronny an attractive option. Even if some don’t see the allure, he should be a serviceable player for teams come the 2024-25 season.
