There are plenty of exciting prospects in the 2024 NBA Draft pool, but only a few have been as polarizing as Bronny James. It’s clear to almost everyone that his lone season with the USC Trojans leaves a lot to be desired for those who expected a lot out of LeBron’s oldest child.

However, it’s also important to consider that had to deal with a cardiac arrest mere months before his first and only season with the Trojans. This impacted his overall play as the team couldn’t just push him to play at full speed when he spent months focusing on recovery.

While his recovery is nothing short of incredible for the younger James, it still cannot be denied that his lone season puts a huge question mark on his career as a pro player.

Now that he’s officially cleared to play in the NBA, nothing is stopping Bronny from pushing for his NBA dreams. As the truth dawns on fans, they begin pitching in on whether he has what it takes to cut out a successful career in the NBA.

After it was made clear that Bronny will be playing in the NBA one way or another, fans took to social media to talk about Bronny as a prospect and whether his persistence to play in the NBA is the right decision.

Eric Smithling of Athlon Sports covered some fan reactions regarding Bronny’s status in the league. Understandably, some were asking the younger James to reconsider his decision:

“Please stay another year bruh,” and “Lol I’m medically clear for the NBA too, doesn’t mean I should play in it,” replied two skeptical followers.

The Spun’s Andrew Holleran collated similar reactions, and he included opinions involving LeBron’s hand having a major pull in the decision-making process of getting him in the NBA Draft conversation at all:

“Many other better and deserving kids won’t get picked bc their dad isn’t LeBron, so sad,” one fan added.

“How worth is it to pick bronny if you’re guaranteed Lebron to sign with your team?” one fan added.

However, there were also messages of support from fans who believed in Bronny’s ability:

“His style of game is a pro style, he’s going to shut up a lot of people soon enough,” one fan wrote.

“WAOOH THAT A GOOD NEWS. HOPE TO SEE HIM SOON,” and “Let’s go!! Happy for him,” responded two accounts.

Regardless of where Bronny ends up in late June, plenty of eyes will be fixated on him. It’s up to him if he steps up to the challenge or buckles under the pressure now that he’s out of his father’s shadow and is now going to be judged for who he is as an NBA player.
