The Philadelphia 76ers suffered their seventh loss this season after a 116-106 outing against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. Following their loss, fans piled on them on social media, trolling their awful start to the 2024-25 NBA season.
The Sixers tried their best to compete against the Lakers tonight. However, they didn’t have enough help to get past LeBron James and Co. The Charlotte Hornets game on Sunday will mark the end of center Joel Embiid’s three-game ban. Point guard Tyrese Maxey didn’t play due to a hamstring injury.

Paul George was the only star player on the floor. Unfortunately for the Sixers, the All-Star forward struggled to contribute and only had nine points. George shot 30.8% from the field on 4-for-13 shooting. He attempted six shots from three but failed to make a single shot.
Following their loss, fans piled on X (formerly Twitter) to troll the 76ers for their 1-7 start to the year.
“Imagine only having ONE win this season,” said one fan on X.
“Sixers are finished,” another fan said online.
“Embiid can’t fix this.”

“Imagine being 1-7 😭😭,” a fan commented.
“They think Embiid saving this while he’s the reason they only have one win lmao.”
“See someone that is looking for max deal. Lol. The Clippers dodged a bullet.”
Former Golden State Warriors star spoke about the suspension of the Philadelphia 76ers star

The league suspended Embiid for three games after he got into a fight with journalist Marcus Hayes. The journalist wrote a piece criticizing the 76ers star. In the piece, Hayes mentioned the son and the late brother of the Cameroonian big man, which the 2023 MVP didn’t appreciate.
This led to a confrontation that escalated to Embiid shoving Hayes. The league initiated an investigation and punished the center afterward.
On Thursday’s edition of “The Mark Jackson Show,” Andre Iguodala, the current NBPA Acting Executive Director and former Golden State Warriors standout, discussed the player-media member incident.
“Initially, I’m upset because a player got suspended and he was essentially reacting to — I felt like, what was disrespect, Iguodala said. “A personal attack on him and his family. We talk about players and their duty and what they mean to the game. I think we’ve also lost the sense of, what it means to be a journalist nowadays.” (11:17)
“There should be a standard of professionalism in journalism as well. Maybe basketball players or the league were the ones holding them to that standard if they can’t do it for themselves… That’s gotta change.”
Embiid will make his season debut on Tuesday, against the New York Knicks.
