NBA Fans weighed in on the backlash surrounding Allen Iverson. On Tuesday, Iverson was nearly a no-show on a charity visit for children with cancer in Australia. Fans, of course, were divided on AI’s act, but some just threw shade at Iverson over what they see as an unforgiving act from the NBA legend.
However, user @thaofficialkat couldn’t help but compare, thinking that another legend would get more backlash if he skipped the event, writing, “Imagine if Bron did this .. the world would treat him like damn Osama Bin Ladin or Hitler.”

User @chiefstalk1 believes that comparing Iverson to LeBron James shouldn’t even happen, responding with, “Iverson gets held to little baby standards because that’s what he is. Everyone knows he’s not a man.”
NBA Fans were left very disappointed and angry over Iverson’s act. And to make things worse, Fans brought up how AI always has the same issues on many occasions. Some Fans really anticipate such attitude from Iverson that they just landed barbs at him.

“Why show up and behave like a jacka**, just cancel the event or don’t go,” one user wrote.
“AI my favorite player but was unprofessional for many occasions the reason he didn’t reach his full potential,” one user remarked.
“This guy has been a disgrace to be NBA for years in 2026 he still is , f*** him,” one user posted.
“Iverson has always been a d***, and done s*** like this,” one user wrote.
NBA Fans were no strangers in Iverson’s behavior on and off the court, but this wouldn’t stop them from meeting arguably the most explosive legend of his time. However, Fans took his late visit at Australia a bit too far, especially if those Fans were sick children hoping to see a NBA legend in their lives.
NBA Fans defend Iverson’s AWOL at Australia
Despite many NBA Fans criticizing Iverson’s no-visit at Australia, some argued that the NBA legend could have his own reasons, which many Fans believe to be just a bad mood.

User @Playzaddehplay called NBA Fans to just show love for Iverson, writing, “The man was having a bad day, cut him some slack.” Meanwhile, user @masonwy82336031 commented, “Praying for dude something gotta be wrong with him sadly.”
Instead of joining the hate, NBA Fans tried to understand Iverson’s struggles. Fans knew how AI revealed how he is trying to recover from his depression and addictions throughout the years. Still, this didn’t stop the Fans from being divided, with some arguing AI should’ve reconsidered before being AWOL in the visit.
