NBA Fans this Thursday were left debating after reports of a possible tweak in next season’s All-Star viral. According to those reports, the league, along with the NBC, are “discussing” to add a 1v1 or a 2v2 format in the Games, in hopes to make amends for the lackluster results of this year’s Slam Dunk Contest.
While the 1v1/2v2 contests have been a staple of basketball, NBA Fans aren’t sure it’ll actually be a thing in the big leagues. User @3randyn claims that the players themselves wouldn’t agree to this. They added, “a lot of them [players] don’t want to be clipped or embarrassed lol.”
User @Gxdubya also raised the same concerns, posting, “100%. The players also run the NBA so nah this will never slide.” After all, the 1v1 contests will only be played by the NBA’s best of the best, and many NBA Fans feel that almost everyone in the league has no balls to play the ball alone in front of millions.

“most of the guys in the league won’t do it,” one user wrote.
“But make the players HAVE to play, i dont want to see no ducking. All all stars, no excuses,” one user remarked.
“only the nobodies are gonna play in this sadly,” one user posted.
“They don’t even wanna dunk man. You think they’re gonna want to 1v1?” one user wrote.
NBA Fans are definitely not holding back when it’s about fixing the All-Star Weekend, which many agree to be a complete mess compared to what it was back then. And while Fans have indeed vouched for a 1v1 or 2v2 showdowns, some feel that it is a double-edged sword.

There is a year more for the NBA to find a way to solve the NBA Fans’ concerns about the new ideas. But if they do, then expect next year’s All-Star Weekend to surpass its viewership record thrice.
NBA Fans think of players dominating in potential 1v1, 2v2 face-off
And while NBA Fans are at it, they couldn’t help but think of the duos, or solos, that will definitely make a name if the league does add the 1v1 and 2v2 showdowns at next year’s All-Star.
User @Kd7_Szn had this flexible duo in mind, writing, “I got KD and AD beating anyone in a 2 vs 2.” Imagine Durant and Edwards destroy their opponents with their all-around skills.
However, user @_HNNDRX believes it’s this white duo who will ace the contest, posting, “Reaves and Luka frying everyone in 2v2.” Two of the LA Lakers’ best shooters. Also a force of nature even in a normal matchup.

Indeed, it’ll be a massive hit if the NBA does make a 1v1 or a 2v2 contest next season. And God knows just how many NBA Fans from around the world will watch those.
