Anthony Davis might be nearing the end of his run with the Dallas Mavericks — at least that’s how many NBA fans see it — and plenty feel the organization is being a bit cold toward him.
With former GM Nico Harrison out, Dallas didn’t waste any time reshaping the roster and cleaning up what they believe were missteps from the previous regime. Davis appears to be one of the first names on that list.
Per Marc Stein, the Mavericks are expected to work with Davis’ camp over the next couple of months to determine whether an in-season trade makes sense. The team hasn’t rushed him back onto the court, which leaves Davis with even less time to show what he can bring when healthy.

Fans had plenty to say.
One wrote, “They didn’t even give him any chance to show what he is capable of smh.”
Another added, “I wonder who actually gives anything worthwhile at this point, great on his day but just made of glass.”
A third commented, “Interesting…. I wonder what AD will settle on. But one thing is for DAMN SURE we are hopefully not waking up in the morning to the news ‘AD TRADED TO….WITHOUT HIM KNOWING’ I think we’ve all had enough of those shenanigans.”

Since arriving from the Lakers, Davis has logged only 14 games and is still looking at reduced minutes as he rehabs his left calf strain. Mavericks governor Patrick Dumon has reportedly asked for medical confirmation that Davis won’t risk re-injury before approving his return to the lineup.
“Have we learned nothing from Hali?”: NBA fans push for patience on Anthony Davis’ situation
With Dallas restructuring from the top down, it’s clear Davis’ window to solidify his place with the team is shrinking. Even so, a lot of fans are still pulling for him to heal fully rather than rush back just to prove a point.

One fan said, “have we learned nothing from Hali man. just sit him out til he’s good to come back.”

Another added, “torn Achilles is no joke. Better safe than sidelined forever.”
A third wrote, “If AD had forced his way back and actually tore that Achilles… the internet would’ve never stopped talking. Smart move sitting out. Sometimes the best play is patience.”
As the Mavericks chart a new direction, Davis’ situation is suddenly one of the biggest storylines — and the clock is ticking on what comes next.
