Austin Reaves have been in the spotlight recently as he steps up to cover for the injured LeBron James, and NBA fans have noticed he’s been achieving things that have never been done before.
During their win over the Miami Heat, Reaves tossed a lob to Bronny James, then realized he might’ve just done something no one else ever has.

After the game, he joked,
“I’ve gotta be the first person in NBA history to throw a father a lob & a son a lob.”

The comment section loved it.
One fan said, “Austin Reaves really completing side quests nobody else even got unlocked.”
Another joked, “Gonna be a Jeopardy question in 10 years.”
A third added, “Reaves out here connecting bloodlines.”
Reaves had a big night — 26 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds — while Luka Doncic chipped in a 29-point triple-double. Together, they powered the Lakers to a 130-120 win, a nice bounce back while LeBron continues to rest.
“White Mamba”: NBA fans compare Austin Reaves to Kobe Bryant after latest stretch
That father-son connection wasn’t Reaves’ only storyline this week. He’s also been on a tear — five straight 25-point games, something no Laker has done since 2005. The last guy to pull that off? Kobe Bryant.

Naturally, fans made the comparison.
One dubbed him the “White Mamba.”

Another wrote, “Wish Kobe got the chance to see this.”
A third commented, “If only Kobe was here he would be mentoring him.”
Reaves is averaging 31.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 9.3 assists — unreal numbers for a guy many once saw as a role player. He’s been fearless, confident, and fun to watch.
Whether it’s tossing lobs to LeBron or Bronny, or going on a Kobe-like scoring run, Reaves is clearly carving out his own lane in L.A. The guy just keeps finding ways to make Lakers history — one wild moment at a time.
