NBA fans are reacting to a strange post by Bleacher Report, which shared Magic Johnson’s words about the Lakers losing to the Warriors in the season opener. Johnson was clearly heartbroken to see his former team lose in the first game of the season. But the way that BR shared his comments looked like a memorial to his passing, which gave many fans a brief heart attack before they could actually read the post.

Johnson is clearly still a Lakers player, despite not having played for the team in so many years and also losing his minority-ownership sometime back. The Lakers played without their legend, LeBron James, and massively lost to the Warriors, disappointing many fans, including Magic Johnson. Fans could not hold back their responses to BR’s coverage of Johnson’s reaction, with many in the comments section calling out the site.

“Bruh, I thought this was an RIP magic tweet for a second” one fan shockingly wrote.

“Had me thinking he died with the broken heart emoji and picture damn” another fan added.

“Don’t do this I thought magic died” yet another fan stated.

NBA Fans Relate To Magic Johnson’s Words About Lakers’ Loss

While many NBA fans called out BR for the way they covered Magic Johnson’s words about the Lakers losing in the season-opener, others empathized with the player, sharing that they too, were sorely disappointed.

Johnson said that he was unable to tweet as a result of the defeat and had to wait for a day until he could react to the loss on social media, something which many fans felt deeply. Just like the legendary player, many fans too feel heartbroken in knowing that their favorite team has lost an important game.

“watching your own team lose in person hits different, the walk back to the car is always the longest” a fan said.

“the way he said ‘i couldn’t even tweet’ like that’s not my everyday mood when life starts missing shots too. i get it, some losses hit deeper than the scoreboard (crying emoji)” one fan remarked.

“Kobe probably up in heaven breaking the TV screen over what LeBron has turned his lakers into (crying emoji)” another fan pointed out.

LeBron James did not play in the season-opener as a result of his struggles with sciatica. It is still unclear as to when the legend will play his first game for the Lakers this season. The player will reportedly undergo another evaluation in a couple of weeks to determine his point of return.
