NBA fans did not mince words after legend Michael Jordan handed out praise for Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Over at social media platform X, NBA fans poked fun at fans of Oklahoma City Thunder MVP stat Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, as he got a snub from NBA legend Michael Jordan. Rather than giving flowers to one of the most-hyped NBA stars today, and the last season’s MVP, Jordan talked about Wolves’ Anthony Edwards.

For some, they can imagine OKC fans weeping over the snub by the NBA legend.

“Shai fans crying into their pillow rn,” one fan said.

“I heard during the course of the year that they were double teaming (Ant). You know, he didn’t know how to deal with the double team. Well, that’s the highest respect you can ever get if a team feels like they need to double… pic.twitter.com/9EdMX3c05s

In a recent video, Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan shared his thoughts and praise for Wolves’ star Anthony Edwards. In particular, Jordan praised Edwards for the fact that he has been experiencing getting tage-teamed by opponents, which he described as a badge of honor for a basketball player.

“I had a conversation this summer with a high executive at Minnesota and he was talking about Anthony Edwards,” Jordan said. “I heard during the course of the year that they were double-teaming (him). He didn’t know how to deal with the double team. While that’s the highest respect that you can ever get, if a team feels like they got to double-team you. Those are the types of conversations I try to have when players seek that information.”

Fans also agree with Jordan’s sentiment that getting tag-teamed is proof that you are seen as a threat by your opponents.

“Ant makes some sort of leap each year, I sense a Championship incoming,” one fan said.

“Exactly the highest form of respect a team can give you is if they see you as a threat enough that they believe it would take two players to stop you,” another fan said.

Also, fans noted that with Edwards’ trajectory in the NBA, a Championship is something that can be expected in the future.

While NBA fans showed appreciation over how Michael Jordan praised Anthony Edwrards, some raised the question of whether the Bulls legend did experience the type of play that today’s league is operating on.

“Double teams were called illegal zones when MJ played,” one fan said. “They weren’t allowed to put two defenders on him.”

One fan, however, offered clarification on how double-team rules applied back i Jordan’s era.

“Whoever is on here saying you couldn’t double team in the 80s/90s doesn’t know the rules,” they said. “You can only double-team if the player has the ball. Is that not still how it is? Plus zone, plus no hard fouls. The NBA’s game today is queer compared to our era. Straight up.”

Right now, NBA fans are looking forward to how Anthony Edwards can elevate the Wolves, which sits 6th at the Western Conference right now.
