NBA fans are having a range of reactions to Charles Barkley condemning Roger Goodell for having football games on Christmas Day. Barkley claims that Christmas is solely the NBA’s since they’ve been having games on the holiday right from the start. Most fans are calling out Barkley for his statements, especially since football has gained plenty more traction than basketball for quite some time now.

“The NFL got greedy and started adding Christmas games. We used to have this day to ourselves, but Roger Goodell and them pigs at the NFL always want to hog every day of the week now. Christmas is an NBA day.” Charles Barkley said.
I’m sorry to tell Charles Barkley that I will watch any NFL game any given day over any NBA game. So I think we need to thank Roger Goodell’s greed for today’s games!

“I’m sorry to tell Charles Barkley that I will watch any NFL game any given day over any NBA game. So I think we need to thank Roger Goodell’s greed for today’s games!” one fan pointed out.
“UMMM…missing the point here. ‘We used to have this day to ourself’ – uh, this is Jesus’ day. There should be no NBA or NFL games on CHRIST-mas. All these players and everyone who has to work for these games to be played and broadcast should be spending time with their families. The almighty dollar needs to be put aside on this day & remember the ALMIGHTY SAVIOR.” One more fan said.
“If the product is good, the NBA would have no problem competing with the NFL. But the product has been bland since the early 2000s, so ratings are down. Don’t complain if you can’t create a competitive product.” Another fan stated.
NBA Fans Hate On League For Not Marketing Games Enough
Many NBA fans are calling out the league itself for not doing enough to bring more viewership to games, especially on Christmas Day, like the NFL. Some feel that Adam Silver needs to do a better job at marketing the games.

“It’s a business. The NFL is a better and bigger business than the NBA. Hence why the NFL viewership is higher. This is not a Roger Goodell problem, this is an Adam Silver problem.” One fan rightly said.
“He right but the NFL is king so it doesn’t matter.” Another fan said.
“You’re complaining that a billion dollar league, that cares more about profits than their own players, is greedy and wants more money?” one more fan sarcastically put.
NFL games on Christmas have definitely been the highlight of the holiday for many years now and fans are not ready to let this go. At the same time, there have been many fans and players themselves who feel that the day is sacred and meant for family time and nothing else.
