Chris Paul came into this season expecting a smooth farewell run with the LA Clippers. Instead, the franchise cut him loose, and NBA fans quickly rallied behind the veteran guard.
Right after the Clippers announced his release, a screenshot surfaced of Paul on FaceTime with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan — a mini Lob City reunion that fans instantly turned into a storyline. With all three having their own complicated exits from the team, people online didn’t hesitate.

One fan said, “Lob City had a reunion and didn’t invite the Clippers organization.”

Another added, “They came together due to their shared hatred of the clippers.”
A third wrote, “they laughing cause they know that poverty franchise never getting 1”
Paul had hoped his return to LA would be a full-circle moment. He chose the Clippers — the team he helped redefine over six seasons — as the spot to close out his Hall of Fame career. Instead, he’s now searching for a new team after a short and messy stint, while the Clippers move forward with Ty Lue steering a roster that has struggled from the jump.
“Soft organization”: NBA fans crush Clippers after reports of fallout with Ty Lue
As more details trickled out, fans only got louder. Shams Charania reported that Paul was “vocal” in holding coaches, players, and management accountable during the team’s 6–16 start. That reportedly didn’t sit well internally, with the Clippers viewing his presence as disruptive and Lue “was not on speaking terms with CP3 for weeks.”

That was all fans needed to hear.
One wrote, “Soft organization. Imagine not wanting your players to be held accountable for poor performance. That right there tells us that things aren’t being run properly in LA.”

Another added, “Releasing the greatest player in your franchise’s history because he wanted accountability is so embarrassing for the Clippers.”
A third said, “In other words… Chris Paul has standards and the Clippers don’t.”
Paul played just 16 games in his return, averaging 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. Now, instead of closing his career where he once thrived, he’s back on the market — and fans are hoping he lands somewhere that gives him the respect, and the ending, he’s earned.
