Kevin Durant just made NBA history, and the internet didn’t miss a beat. As the Houston Rockets star inked a massive new extension, NBA fans found the most creative (and hilarious) ways to congratulate him.
Durant agreed to a contract extension that could keep him in Houston through the 2027–28 season, the team announced Sunday. According to ESPN, the deal is worth around $90 million, pushing his career on-court earnings close to $600 million — the highest in league history.

This man is officially the RICHEST NBA player of all-time 🚨💰

Fans immediately flooded social media to celebrate the milestone, mixing humor with a bit of admiration.
“Those earnings are probably intact. No wife and no kids.”

“Even after taxes, agents’ fees, attorneys & managers, dude is still holding onto ~$230M… That’s still a whole lot of change! Hope he has a solid business management team around him with a smart investment strategy.”
“And u kno he’s held onto a lot of that bread cuz he ain’t spending it on hoes.”
Despite being eligible for a larger $122 million deal, Durant reportedly took less to give the Rockets more flexibility in shaping the roster. For him, it’s less about the paycheck and more about chasing that elusive championship in Houston — something the franchise hasn’t done since the days of Hakeem Olajuwon.

The 15-time All-Star seems fully bought in to what the Rockets are building under coach Ime Udoka, surrounded by rising talents hungry to make noise in the West.
“I ain’t done cooking yet”: NBA fans fired up for Durant’s next chapter

“Way to go!! Tari next and let’s go have a great season.”
“Told yall put some respect on his name.”
Durant’s still one of the best scorers the game’s ever seen — and if his latest deal is any sign, he’s not close to done writing his story just yet.
