NBA fans once again found themselves in a GOAT debate as a recent podcast with Jeff Teague triggered a comparison between league greats, including Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
Over at social media platform X, NBA fans argued over a recent statement from former NBA star Jeff Teague, who compared the discussions of the greatest in the NBA during the era of Michael Jordan vs the era of Los Angeles Lakers veteran superstar LeBron James.
According to Teague, Jordan back then was the only name in GOAT talks, while LeBron today has always been pitted against other names such as Kevin Durant and the late Kobe Bryant. For one fan, the difference in the intensity of the discussion on the topic proved one point about LeBron’s case for being the GOAT.

“Just shows Bron played in a more talented era lol,” the fan said.

Another fan, however, had an entirely different perspective on the matter.
“No, it just shows how much better MJ was than everybody else,” they said.
In one of the most recent episodes of the “Club 520” podcast, Jeff Teague placed the blame for the Lakers’ roster struggles on LeBron James. In his piece, Teague blamed James for “eating up all the money” of the Lakers.
“Before Bron came back, everything was good,” Teague stated. “Now they’re saying trade AR [Austin Reaves] or send him to the bench. Man, that’s Bron. But they can’t get anybody defensively because Bron takes up a lot of money. They say we need more defense. Why would you trade AR, who’s 27, playing at an All-Star level, to get more defense, when you’ve got a 40-year-old, who’s on his last legs, making $50 million, that’s about to be gone. Just let him ride off and go spend that money.”
Teague argued that with James probably in the last years of his career, if not the last, the Lakers stand to see less production from him compared to younger talents like Austin Reaves.
NBA Fans React to Jordan vs Lebron Era Comparison
Over at X, NBA fans talked about the differences they see between the eras of Bulls legend Michael Jordan and the present era of LeBron James. For one fan, the difference is in the level of dominance.

“It just shows a lot of greats were forgotten because of the dominance,” they said. “You’ll be having this conversation with some wet behind the ears know-it-all in 15-20 years.”
