“Refs Literally Went To Prison For That Series And Admitted It Was Rigged” : NBA Fans Debate Dwyane Wade Defending 2006 Finals Free Throw Disparity

Surprising as is, NBA Fans this Thursday looked back to the 2006 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. The debate began after X/Twitter page @TheDunkCentral shared a clip of Dwayne Wade, the Finals MVP, calling out to the Mavericks Fans after throwing shade on his trips to the free-throw line throughout the series.

In the clip, Wade said, “The greats get to the line. That’s what they do. That’s what you have to do. That’s a part of your job, and so I got to the line.”

Despite Wade’s defense, NBA Fans weren’t convinced that Wade deserved those free throws. User @AidanLaPorta69 claimed the culprits are, as usual, the refs.

The user wrote, “Refs literally went to prison for that series and admitted it was rigged [laughing emoji],” claiming the officiating had dictated how the game will go from the start.

User @KiddMuse_ called back to Wade with the same skepticism, writing, “Does he forget officials went to prison over the 2006 finals?”

After all, hardcore NBA Fans still don’t forget how officials, led by Tim Donaghy, were imprisoned after claiming that the NBA told refs like him to manipulate games, and the 2006 Finals were no exception.

In the end, NBA Fans overall see the 2006 Finals as one, if not, the worst officiated series in the league. Fans, of course, had one culprit unto why it is that: Wade’s FT trips which they see as deeply unfair.

“That’s one of the worst officiated finals in history,” one userwrote.

“u were getting literal phantom fouls out there, ain’t no getting to the line,” one userremarked.

“D Wade is so overrated. That finals run was gifted to him by the refs,” one userposted.

“Yeah that’s ain’t it. You were gettin to the line without even being touched,” one userwrote.

Despite the NBA Fans throwing shade for Wade’ multitude of trips to the free throw line, they also didn’t spare the Mavericks Fans who still can’t move on from the results of the 2006 series.

User @BarryGetThatBag just wrote, “Mavs fans been complaining about everything even till this day IM SICK of them n*****.”

Meanwhile, user @HeatCulture13 claims that the series was better than any other, remarking, “The GREATEST finals performance of all time and you can’t tell me otherwise.”

While NBA Fans are still divided over the decades-old controversy, they knew well how the Mavericks balanced the equation by defeating the same team in the 2011 Finals.
