Dennis Schröder didn’t just walk away from a loss to the Lakers — he walked himself into a suspension, and NBA fans were stunned by how far things went afterward.
Following their 125–101 loss to Los Angeles on December 28, 2025, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Schröder was hit with a three-game suspension after a postgame confrontation that escalated into an attempted strike on “another player” roughly 40 minutes after the final buzzer.
Shams didn’t name the player involved, but fans didn’t need much help connecting the dots.
During the game, Schröder and Luka Dončić were caught jawing at each other, and that exchange quickly became the focal point online once the suspension news dropped.

@DailyHitman shrugged it off with humor, posting, “Weak. Post game fights should be allowed.”

@ShinyWilder leaned into the trash talk, joking, “ should have signed that contract, baby.”
Meanwhile, @DFreeDBZHD applauded Dončić’s ability to stir things up, saying, “Damn Luka bait the fuck out of him talking about the declined Lakers extension contract really got under his skin.”
According to reports circulating among fans, Luka referenced Schröder’s decision to pass on a Lakers extension back in 2022, a move that eventually led him to Boston instead. That comment alone seemed to strike a nerve — enough to carry over well after the game ended.
“Whole league knows that’s not your body”: NBA fans roast Schröder’s warning
The tension between the two wasn’t limited to the postgame chaos. During their on-court exchange, Schröder was caught issuing a direct warning to Dončić.

“I’m gonna beat the s**t out of you,” said Schroder.
NBA fans, however, weren’t exactly convinced.
@JarvTGA dismissed it outright, saying, “Schroeder lol. Whole league knows that’s not your body.”

@moneyandhoezz suggested regret set in almost immediately, posting, “He realized how stupid he sounded after saying that.”
And @GeneralGail focused on Dončić’s reaction — or lack of one — adding, “Luka so unbothered.”
In the end, Schröder’s frustration cost him three games, while Luka walked away with both the win and the internet firmly on his side.
