The Phoenix Suns were finally finding their rhythm, sitting at 13-9 and looking like a real threat in the West — until the news NBA fans never wanted dropped. Devin Booker has a right groin strain and will be re-evaluated in a week, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. For a team that’s been relying on Booker’s steady scoring to steer them through the early stretch, the timing couldn’t be worse.

And because NBA fans never miss a moment to crack jokes, they immediately shifted the spotlight to Dillon Brooks in the most unserious way possible.

One fan joked, “‘Dillon brooks time baby’ – Dillon Brooks.”

Another chimed in, “30 PPG Dillon Brooks incoming.”

A third mixed in the ongoing superstar rumor mill: “The timing of this is suspect, given the Giannis news. Booker for Giannis, or everything BUT Booker for Giannis? Giannis and Booker would be super nice.”

Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker has sustained a right groin strain and will be re-evaluated in one week, sources tell ESPN. Best case for Booker and the Suns, who are a surprise 13-9 and in the West playoff picture so far this season.

But behind the memes, Brooks delivered. With Booker out, the Suns leaned on him — and he responded with a monster 33-point performance in a 125–108 win over the Lakers, giving Phoenix exactly what they needed to stay afloat.

“You’re basically begging Milwaukee for Giannis”: NBA fans push back on the Dillon Brooks slander

Brooks has long been one of the league’s most polarizing personalities, and some NBA fans still insist he’s not a true difference-maker. That narrative didn’t fly this time. Plenty of fans came to his defense, noting how much he’s grown and how important he’s been this season.

One wrote, “Brooks is far from mid … sh*t we beat you mf so bad you’re basically begging Milwaukee for Giannis.”

Another supporter added, “Brooks isn’t mid he’s actually pretty solid he just gets a lot of hate cause of his antics this is coming from a Laker fan as well.”

A third said, “Brooks is having that year man. And he’s not stopping.”

Brooks is far from mid …shit we beat you mf so bad you’re basically begging Milwaukee for Giannis 🤣🤣🤣

And honestly? The numbers back them up. Brooks is putting together the strongest campaign of his career — averaging 22.3 points on 46.3% shooting, with three 30-point outings already and six games of 25 or more.

With Booker sidelined, Phoenix needs someone to carry the load. Whether Brooks can keep stringing together performances like his Lakers outburst remains to be seen, but if there’s a moment for him to flip the narrative and cement himself as more than just an agitator, this is it.
