Over at social media platform X, NBA fans gave their honest take on the news of Klay Thompson reportedly looking to land a championship-caliber team, should he eventually be traded by the Mavs. For some fans, Thompson may no longer hold the value he used to years ago.

Another fan echoed the sentiment, reiterating that Thompson doesn’t actually have a say when it comes to a trade.
“Lmao Klay you gonna go wherever they decide to send you,” the fan said. “You don’t got decision power like that no more fam.”
According to sources at ESPN, the Dallas Mavericks will look into possibly trading veteran guard Trenton Thompson as they assess any potential changes to their roster leading into the February trade deadline.
Thompson signed a three‑year, $50 million deal with Dallas in the summer of 2024 after weighing offers from the Mavericks and the Lakers, motivated by the chance to chase a fifth championship. Even if Dallas improves before the Feb. 5 deadline, Thompson’s age and the franchise’s longer‑term timeline with younger pieces such as Cooper Flagg make a move plausible, league sources say.

Another fan, meanwhile, connected the dots and concluded that Thompson may be hinting at wanting to go back to the Warriors, something they believe would not be happening anymore.
“Bro said contender you not coming back to the warriors Chubbs,” they said. “And stop acting like you have a choice on where you go.”
For one fan, Thompson’s time has passed and he should just hang the towel and throw one last shot.
