NBA fans saw a potential foreshadowing in a father-and-son interview with former NBA star Austin Rivers and his dad, Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers.

Over at X, some fans saw a potential similar father-and-son journalistic team up, but this time with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and his son, Bronny James.

Several fans agreed with a laugh, with one even pointing out how they reacted to it.

“Was not expecting this comment,: one fan said, with a laughing emoji. “I had no choice but to bust out laughing.”

In a video, Austin Rivers sat down with his father, Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers, ahead of Monday’s Bucks-Cavs matchup, turning a routine pregame segment into a playful exchange about the team’s recent form and coaching adjustments.

Beyond jokes exchanged, Doc outlined concrete areas the Bucks need to address, telling Austin the club must rebound better, cut down on fouls and penetrate more to find consistent offense, while the younger Rivers pressed about how having an analyst son hovering around the sidelines might affect sideline interactions.

“You’ve hovered around me my whole life,” Doc said to Austin during the interview. “So this part will be easy, right? I’m hoping. I’m hoping. Don’t say anything that you shouldn’t say.”

“And last but not least, most importantly, why couldn’t you have gotten me a mid-level contract this summer?” Austin asked. “And before you finish, I want you to think about the possibilities here. Summer houses in The Hamptons, ski houses in Aspen, this could’ve been ours. Actually, I don’t even want you to answer. How dare you?”

Austin Rivers played for 11 seasons in the NBA, three of which were with the Los Angeles Clippers, where his father Doc was once head coach.

NBA Fans React to Austin Rivers Interviewing Dad Doc Rivers

Over at X, NBA fans expressed their honest reactions to the clip of Austin Rivers interviewing his dad, Doc Rivers. While some fans find the moment wholesome and entertaining, some were not impressed by it.

For another fan, the dislike has years of disappointment behind it.

“These two ruined my Clippers,” the fan said. “We should have a chip.”

“They both washed up,” another one added.

For one fan, on the other hand, the interview made him recall one iconic father-and-son moment by the two.

“Still can’t stop laughing at the fact Austin got Doc ejected from the game six years ago,” they said.

As the regular season goes on, NBA fans are excited to see what Doc Rivers and the Bucks could come up with.
