NBA fans recently reacted to the New York Knicks winning the NBA Cup with little to no confidence, as some boldly predicted that the trophy would be the only one they would have this season.
Over at social media platform X, NBA fans reacted to a video of Knicks stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson proudly carrying the trophy for the NBA Cup 2025. While some fans celebrated the tournament win of the franchise, some were not convinced by it and predicted it to be their only win.

“[The] only gold they ever touching,” one fan said.

For one fan, however, the NBA Cup win signals a change in how fans should perceive the Knicks.
“That pairing feels real now,” one fan said, talking about Brunson and KAT. “Brunson brings control and toughness, KAT brings size and skill, and together they cover so many gaps. Hardware just puts a stamp on what the eye test already showed. If they keep building chemistry like this, it changes how people talk about this team going forward.”
The New York Knicks rallied past the San Antonio Spurs 124-113 to capture the NBA Cup on Tuesday night in Las Vegas, with OG Anunoby scoring 28 points and Jalen Brunson adding 25 en route to being named tournament MVP.
The victory gave the Knicks a new banner to hang alongside their 1973 NBA championship at Madison Square Garden and bolsters a roster that includes Brunson, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges as serious contenders in a thin Eastern Conference.
With the win, each Knicks player on a standard contract earned an extra $318,560 for winning the Cup, after receiving $530,933 for reaching the final. Because the Cup is a separate tournament, the result does not affect regular-season records, leaving both teams listed at 18-7 in the standings, though the Knicks’ title run offers momentum and expectations heading into the rest of the season.
NBA Fans Poke Fun at Knicks, Even After NBA Cup Win
Over at X, NBA fans poked fun at the New York Knicks, particularly the moment with Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson proudly walking with the tournament trophy. For some fans, a trophy for a tournament outside of the regular season is not worth flexing at all.

“Imagine flexing a NBA Cup championship,” the fan said.

The last time the Knicks won a Championship was in 1973, after they beat the Los Angeles Lakers during the Finals. With their current standing now at the Eastern Conference, NBA fans are looking forward to how the current roster could make history for the franchise.
