Draymond Green found himself in another courtside drama — this time with a fan who kept calling him “Angel Reese” during the Golden State Warriors’ road game against the Pelicans. Naturally, NBA fans went full roast mode.

One user @Ballislife reported Green’s own words: “Draymond Green on his interaction with a fan who kept calling him Angel Reese: ‘It was a good joke at first but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I’ve got 4 kids and 1 on the way. He got quiet though, so it was fine.’” But that didn’t stop the trolling. @KinggTrades chimed in: “now Draymond is gonna be called Angel Reese at everyone away game. He shouldn’t have shown this much attention to it lol.” And @PyratHouseAJ offered savage merch ideas: “Would it be wrong to get a Draymond jersey and have his name removed and Reese’s put in its place?”
The drama traces back to when the fan — identified as Sam Green — taunted Draymond after a series of misses and rebounds, shouting “Angel Reese” at him. Draymond later said the insults went too far, calling him “a woman’s name” and stressing that as a father of four with another on the way, he found it disrespectful. He also admitted that while he initially laughed, things escalated quickly.
Officials stepped in fast — refs separated the pair, and ushers warned the fan. According to Green, referee Courtney Kirkland later told him, “I heard him over and over. You handled it — don’t get yourself in trouble. I got it.” Meanwhile, Green joked postgame that if he had to be compared to a great rebounder, he’d rather be called Lisa Leslie.
Plenty of NBA fans are calling this one peak Draymond: he brings the heat on the court, but apparently the sidelines ain’t immune.

Draymond’s Explanation Further Confuses NBA Fans
Draymond Green’s reaction to the “Angel Reese” chants shows just how thin the line is between playful heckling and disrespect — and how quickly things can backfire when emotions run high.
As shared by @Fullcourtpass: “Draymond Green on why he confronted the fan ‘I come down he’s like oh Draymond, you’re Angel Reese, ok that was a little funny. As the night goes on there’s more with it, hey Draymond you’re fckin Angel Reese.’”* That escalation didn’t sit right with everyone. @Billy_PMS pointed out the irony: “Yes because you were mebounding on every play.” And @SpokeNClass2Day nailed the confusion many felt: “Wait. So he thought the Angel comp was funny, but then said it was disrespectful? Which is it Dray?”
Green says he tried to take it in stride at first — but once the remarks crossed into questioning his masculinity, he drew a line. He told reporters that the fan kept calling him “a woman,” something he can’t just laugh off given his family: “I’ve got four kids and one on the way.” But when officials validated his frustration, he backed off — saying, “he got quiet though … we move on.”
His coach, Steve Kerr, defended the interaction, noting that as long as things didn’t escalate, a player “going over and having a discussion” isn’t necessarily a problem. But NBA fans aren’t letting this go. Now they’re debating whether calling him “Angel Reese” will become a new away-game taunt — a nickname that might sting more than the original insult.
