NBA fans wasted no time roasting Draymond Green after his latest run-in with a heckler went viral. During Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, Green walked toward a fan who repeatedly called him “Angel Reese,” a playful jab that clearly hit a nerve. Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the league ultimately issued Green only a warning — but the internet wasn’t as forgiving.
One fan joked, “His official nickname is now Draymond ‘Angel’ Green, or just ‘Drangel Green’.”

Another said, “Good on him for sticking up for himself, but dude needs to stop giving the hecklers their content.”
A third piled on with, “Draymond got angry because he knows the fan is right, he plays like Angel Reese, both are great defenders that can’t shoot nor finish at the rim.”
In the end, though, Green had the scoreboard on his side. Golden State walked out with a 124-106 win, and he delivered a solid all-around line: 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists in 25 minutes. Even with the jokes flying, the four-time champion held up his end on the court.
“You’re the problem”: NBA fans defend Draymond Green after heckler explains himself
As loud as the clowning was, another wave of NBA fans eventually came to Green’s defense once more context surfaced.
The heckler — a Pelicans fan named Sam — reached out to Outkick’s Clay Travis to share his version of events.

He insisted he wasn’t disrespecting women’s basketball or Angel Reese and was simply trying to get under Green’s skin. He also admitted he’s been tossed from several arenas for similar behavior but claimed no player had ever approached him directly.
Sam doubled down on the idea that, as long as he’s being “respectful,” heckling is part of being a fan. That explanation didn’t exactly win the crowd over.
One fan fired back, “Nah. If you’ve been kicked out of multiple games, you’re the problem.”

Another said, “I agree draymond is a huge asshole but the fan saying he’s been kicked out of ‘several’ games for heckling just solidifies there were two assholes there.”
A third added, “I have no sympathy for that fan. If you’re gonna talk shit, never ever be shocked when someone gives it back to you. Never.”
Between the jokes, the defense, and the back-and-forth, one thing’s clear: whenever Draymond is involved, NBA fans will always have something to say — and they rarely hold back.
