Over at X, NBA fans shared their honest thoughts on Russel Westbrook’s recent viral video, where he lashed out at underage fans who heckled him with the chants of “Westrbick,” which was an obvious jab at his ability to make great plays and impact on the game.

For one fan, Westbrook’s way of handling the situation was “shameless.”
“Lashing out at kids joking around is shameless,” the fan said.
Westbrook’s meltdown towards his hecklers happened during one of their recent games against the Miami Heat, where a group of young fans repeatedly called him “Westbrick.” Westbrook had already made clear in the past that he takes offense in the namesake, which led to these fans receiving what some would say they asked for.
“What you say?” Westbrook asked when he caught wind of the chant. “Don’t play around with me. Don’t play on me.”
While some called him out for his reaction, others see this as a way of showing kids how to behave properly in situations.
“Kids with no consequences become adults who think there’s no consequences,” one fan said.
The incident came amid a rocky start to the season for the Kings, who entered Monday’s matchup with a 6–17 record despite a recent road victory over the Miami Heat. Teammate Zach LaVine turned in a 42‑point outing in that win, a performance that could modestly boost his trade value as the franchise weighs roster moves.

“This guy still letting fans get to him and living rent free in his head,” the fan said.
For another, Westbrook needed to learn how to take a joke and criticism, and not lash out at the moment one is shouted at him.
“I’m sorry but you just can’t be this emotional as a player,” the fan said. “If he said something regarding family or wildly offensive/out of bounds, all for going at him. Getting offended over a joke is pathetic.”

With the Kings sitting near the bottom of the Western Conference, NBA fans are looking to veteran stars like Westbrook to potentially elevate the franchise for a chance at the playoffs.
