With Nico Harrison officially out of the Dallas Mavericks’ front office, NBA fans wasted no time spinning up theories about a potential reunion with their former franchise cornerstone, Luka Doncic. The timing only added fuel to the fire: the Lakers had just been blown out by 29 points by the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder, and Doncic was immediately asked about Harrison’s exit — and whether a return to Dallas was something he’d even consider.
Doncic shut it down quickly: “Right now, I’m just focusing with the Lakers. No further comments,” he said.

That didn’t stop fans from reading between the lines, though. Many took his brief comment as a hint that the door might not be completely closed.
One fan wrote, “planted that seed baby.”
Another added, “what a timing to ask after losing by 30 huh? hoping he’s shaken?”
A third jumped in with, “That was a lowkey yes.”

Even on an off night — at least by his usual standards — Doncic still filled the box score with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. It wasn’t his typical 20-plus scoring output, but considering how rough the Lakers looked overall, it was still a respectable performance in a 121-92 loss.
“You’re a desperate Mavs reporter”: NBA fans roast journalist after Luka question
The postgame availability only got more chaotic from there. During the presser, sportscaster Jonah Javad asked Doncic how he felt about the idea of returning to Dallas now that Harrison was gone. It was a fair question in the context of the day — but fans weren’t having it.

One fan unloaded, writing, “You’re a desperate Mavs reporter, and you just gotta realize that the Mavs have officially entered the dark ages buddy. They will NEVER get Luka Doncic back, they will NEVER reach the same heights they did with Luka again. Lakers owner is Mark Walter, and he’s a WINNER.”

Another piled on: “how does a bias Mavs reporter get into a Lakers v OKC post game interview room.”
A third chimed in with, “You’re weird as hell for putting him in that position, hope you got your clicks.”
With Harrison out and Doncic’s name swirling again, the drama around Dallas isn’t slowing down anytime soon — even if Luka himself isn’t entertaining it.
