NBA fans are having a range of reactions to Steph Curry’s father being recently honored by his former team, the Charlotte Hornets. Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey will be retired as the team announced lately.
However, not all fans are buying this, with many trolling the franchise and Dell himself for the honor. Many fans feel that the Hornets literally do not have anything to celebrate as of late, and are instead opting to create honors for long-time retired hoopers like Dell Curry, just to stay in the news.
“The Charlotte Hornets are retiring Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey on March 19, sources tell ESPN. Curry, the 1994 Sixth Man of the Year, ranks second in points in franchise history and spent 10 of his 16 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-98). He currently serves as a team ambassador.” Shams Charania tweeted.
“We are retiring 6th man jerseys now? Poverty franchise.” One fan exclaimed.
“I guess anyone getting retired nowadays,” another fan added.
“This is a joke. Per @bball_ref, he started 77 games TOTAL in 10 seasons. Played 25 minutes per game. Averaged a 14/3/2.” one fan pointed out.

Of course, the biggest accomplishment that Dell Curry has made in the field of basketball is his son, Steph Curry, who is a strong contender for the GOAT debate in the game. Nevertheless, it looks like many still remember Dell for his own legacy with the Hornets.
NBA Fans Also Feel Dell Curry’s Honor Is Long Overdue
On another note, many NBA fans feel that this honor of Dell Curry should have been done a long time ago. Dell may have been a sixth man for the Hornets, but he managed to impress in the few minutes that he played.
“The father of NBA stars Stephen and Seth Curry, Dell Curry is set to have his iconic No. 30 jersey retired by the Charlotte Hornets – a well-deserved honor that underscores his legendary status with the franchise.” One fan said.

“Well deserved. Dell was a steady presence for that franchise long before the current era.” Another fan stated.
“people forget dell was the original bucket getter in charlotte that 1994 sixth man of the year run was legendary and he basically set the blueprint for steph and seth to become the shooters they are today march 19 is gonna be a special night,” another fan added.
Dell Curry is certainly devoted to the Hornets after playing for a decade with the same team. Steph Curry’s father is still keeping himself busy as a team ambassador, even if the team might be nowhere as great as when he was a part of it.
