Former Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison seems to be taking his firing in stride — but NBA fans aren’t letting him breathe just yet.
After parting ways with Dallas, Harrison updated his Instagram bio, swapping out “GM of the Dallas Mavericks” for a new, humbling combo: “Girl dad” and “Unemployed.”

The move looked like his way of poking fun at the situation and moving on. Still, fans jumped at the chance to roast him in the comments
One joked, “This made him claim his daughter.”
Another piled on, “She might need to be careful, he might trade her for a bag of chips.”
And a third wrote, “Man… Nico really out here embracing the free-agent life on IG? Respect the honesty, but ouch, that’s a tough flex.”
Despite the laughs, Harrison’s run in Dallas wasn’t all bad. Under his watch, the Mavs made it back to the NBA Finals in 2024, briefly restoring hope in the Luka Doncic era — right up until he shocked the league by trading Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Best Laker GM ever”: NBA fans hilariously thank Harrison for Doncic trade
In Dallas, Harrison’s name has become a punchline. But over in Los Angeles? He’s practically being worshiped.

After orchestrating the blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doncic to LA in exchange for Anthony Davis, the Lakers suddenly look reborn. Doncic has clicked instantly with LeBron James, who’s working his way back from sciatica, and the Lakers now look like legitimate contenders again.
Naturally, Lakers fans couldn’t help but troll Dallas while showing “gratitude” to their unexpected hero.
One fan wrote, “Best Laker GM ever.”

Another added, “Dude is a patron saint in LA. May he rest in peace. On another team. That wants to make a wild lopsided trade with us one day.”
A third said, “Build him a statue outside of Crypto.”
And it’s easy to see why they’re happy — Doncic is on an absolute tear. Through seven games this season, he’s averaging 37.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 9.1 assists, barely missing a beat from last year’s 28.2 points, 8.1 boards, and 7.5 dimes in 28 appearances with the Lakers.
Dallas might still be trying to recover from Harrison’s moves, but in LA, his legacy might just live forever.
