NBA fans sounded off their reactions to the sanctions that New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado and Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams got, following their on-court fight last week.
For some NBA fans, the suspension that the two players received felt lacking. So much so that one fan even recommended players to just go ahead and replicate the fight, since they are only bound to be suspended for a few games.

“Only 2 games for throwing a punch?” the fan said. “More players should take advantage that’s nothing.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, calling the move more of a slap on the wrist rather than a penalty.
“Only two games?!” the fan said. “That’s basically a slap on the wrist.. Players could throw punches every week with penalties like that.”
The NBA has handed New Orleans guard Jose Alvarado a two-game suspension and Phoenix center Mark Williams a one-game suspension for their involvement in a third-quarter altercation during Saturday night’s matchup, the league announced earlier this week. Both players would not receive pay within this period.
Phoenix coach Jordan Ott said the skirmish was driven by competitiveness and fatigue on the second night of a back‑to‑back, noting the game’s tempo and circumstances contributed to the incident.
“I saw it start, and then all of a sudden everyone jumped in,” Ott said. “Obviously, it happens. It just feels like the lack of sleep the second night of a back-to-back, something always tends to happen. Last night, there were a lot of free throws. Tonight, there wasn’t as much. They let us play tonight, which is something we enjoy. They got tangled up, and obviously they both got thrown out.”
So far, neither Williams nor Alvarado had commented on the suspension given to them.
NBA Fans React to Suspension on Alvarado, Williams: “Figured as Much”
Over at social media platform X, NBA fans sounded off on their reaction to the “punishment” that players Jose Alvarado and Mark Williams got for being involved in an on-court fight. For one fan, Alvarado should have gotten harsher penalties.

“Figured as much,” the fan said. “Alvarado should probably get more since he started it for no reason.”

For another fan, however, the players should be rewarded rather than penalized, for one particular reason.
“Bro, they should both get a raise for boosting ratings lowkey NBA loves this, that’s why the suspension is only 2 games,” the fan said. “That’s basically a slap on the wrist and the NBA telling them both to keep the fists flying.”
For now, NBA fans will have to wait for two weeks before seeing both Alvarado and Williams back in court action.
