NBA Fans were briefly sent into chaos after a parody post claimed Kawhi Leonard had passed Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list.
The post came from @TheNBACentel, a well-known parody account, which shared a graphic showing Leonard jumping to No. 5 on the regular season scoring leaders. The caption read, “Kawhi Leonard has passed Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list [fire emoji].”

At first glance, the post looked convincing enough to fool casual scrollers.
That is exactly what sparked reactions from NBA Fans who knew some people would take it seriously. @0xSweep quickly jumped in to warn others, writing, “Some people will believe this btw [crying emoji].” The reply itself gained traction, as many NBA Fans admitted they had to double-check the account name.
Others leaned fully into the joke. @DeyLuvHuggy posted, “MJ got passed by a dude who barely plays games,” poking fun at Leonard’s limited appearances compared to Jordan’s ironman reputation.
The comment spread among NBA Fans who understood the post was satire but enjoyed watching the confusion unfold.
MJ is still sitting tight on the number 5 spot with 12192 points and is very safe from Kawhi Leonard who hasn’t even broken into the top 50.
The reaction from NBA Fans highlights a bigger issue with online sports talk. A single parody post can turn into a debate within minutes.
NBA Fans Push Back On Michael Jordan Doubters After Viral Parody Sparks Debate
As the parody post made rounds, NBA Fans quickly shifted from laughing at the joke to defending Michael Jordan’s legacy.

A clip posted by @itsMichaelJ, a parody and fan page, showed Jordan holding teammates accountable, with the caption, “Jordan understood being a good teammate isn’t about being nice. It’s about demanding greatness. [angry face emoji] MJ built winners by holding everyone accountable, including himself. [goat emoji]”

The post drew praise from NBA Fans who saw it as a reminder of why Jordan’s status remains untouched.
@FilipeDar7h replied, “When you’re demanding to yourself and you show that in every moment, the other ones start to follow you. That’s called leading by example.” The comment echoed a common defense used by NBA Fans when Jordan’s leadership style comes up.
Others addressed a different argument that resurfaced in the replies. Some commenters claimed Jordan joined an already great team, suggesting his impact is overstated. That idea was quickly challenged.
@HumbleW42315015 wrote, “And this is why renowly is regarded as the greatest to ever lace them up. Isn’t about being liked or the most popular guy on your team. It was about the primary mission at hand: championship or bust and Jordan squeezed every drop out of all his teammates to accomplish this fully.”
In the end, NBA Fans once again showed how quickly humor can turn into serious discussion when legacies are involved.
