What looked like a serious mentoring moment between Kyrie Irving and 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg ended up becoming comedy material for NBA fans online.
During the Mavericks’ preseason shootaround, cameras caught Flagg trading shots and light banter with Irving. It seemed like a veteran guiding a young star in the making — until fans jumped in with their trademark sarcasm.

One joked, “Get ready to learn flat earth theory, buddy.”
Another added, “Cooper still secretly mad at him for leaving the Celtics.”
And one more quipped, “hopefully flagg doesn’t start wearing women’s pants too.”
Even with all the jokes, Dallas is putting a lot of hope in Flagg’s potential to become a franchise-changing player. Alongside Irving — who missed most of last season with an injury — the rookie is expected to play a huge role in the Mavericks’ hunt for a championship.

NBA Fans React to LeBron’s Tease
While Dallas fans were laughing, the rest of the NBA world was focused on LeBron James after he hinted at a major announcement coming Tuesday.
LeBron posted a short clip captioned “The decision of all decisions” and tagged it #TheSecondDecision. It didn’t take long for speculation to take over social media.
According to ProphetX, there’s a 52% chance LeBron could finally hang it up — though not everyone’s buying it.
One fan wrote, “That means there’s a 52% chance bronny announces his retirement as well.”
Another said, “I think he says he has 1 year left and will announce that he will take his talents to the league he is starting overseas.”
And a third added, “0% chance he retires tomorrow. I’d bet everything I own he’s not retiring tomorrow. Maybe after this season sure, but yall gotta calm down.”
Whether it’s the end of an era or just another promo move, LeBron’s teaser has the league holding its breath.
