NBA fans revisited the viral “decision” video that was teased by Los Angeles Lakers veteran LeBron James, which turned out to be nothing that everyone expected.
In a recent video on social media platform X that went viral, former NBA star Lou Williams blasted Lakers veteran LeBron James for his recent viral marketing stunt. NBA fans agreed with his sentiment, while some were not so convinced by his take.

“You have this age of kids waiting to hear his decision, and you’re inviting them to a Hennessy party,” Lou said.

One fan clapped back at Weilliams, with a personal take thrown at his direction.
“Says the one going to a strip club in the middle of a pandemic and NBA season,” the fan said.
Earlier this month, LeBron James sent talks of retirement when he posted a cryptic video and teased a major “decision” that he would let his fans know on a specific date. The short video, without any other information, sent a wave of TikToks, content, articles, and videos from fans that discuss what most people assumed about his announcement of a final season in the NBA.
However, when the “decision” was announced, it turned out to be only an ad for the alcohol brand Hennessy. This divided his fanbase, with some praising him for the marketing stunt and others blasting him for taking advantage of his fans in order to bring the most eyeballs to the liquor ad.
The episode reignited conversations about athletes using major broadcasts for publicity and the boundaries between entertainment and genuine news in sports. Media critics and former players weighed in on how high-profile moments like this shape a player’s legacy and the responsibilities public figures carry when addressing millions of invested fans.
NBA Fans Recall Reaction to LeBron James “Decision” Ad
Over at X, NBA fans got back to discussing the “second decision” ad of Lebron James, with some calling him out once more for playing with the emotions of fans and dangling the idea of his retirement.

“Dawg, I actually would hate to be LeBron,” one fan said. “The think pieces that come out of something as simple as an Ad is insane. I swear to God Bron da strongest soldier.”

For others, criticisms like that of Lou Williams do not apply, as James does not sell himself as a role model for kids.
“LeBron ain’t tryna be nobody’s kids role model,” they said. “He stopped trying to be that when he started going on all these podcasts and uncensoring himself.”

As the 2025 season opens, fans are looking forward to where LeBron James’ career will take him.
