Luka Doncic is on his way to his 7th NBA All-Star Game, and this year, he was the favorite among NBA fans.
However, those votes he got quickly turned into tickets to mock the Slovenian following his comments on receiving the most All-Star votes this year.
“Thank you, everyone, for believing in me. Just a kid from Slovenia,” said Doncic.
NBA fans quickly caught on his efforts of using LeBron James’ phrase back in 2016 when he went onto win the NBA Championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“The last championship was 50-some years ago. Guess what? It took a kid from Akron to end it,” said LeBron 10 years ago during their championship celebrations.
@chasecarter510 replied, “Nice spin on the kid from Akron.”

@CruxifyDaGod jumped in too, saying, “luka been spending too much time with bron i see.”
And @praiseneh didn’t waste time, just calling him, “LeUka.”
Heading into the All-Star Game in LA, Doncic garnered 3,402,967 votes from the fans while getting 95 votes from his peers as well as from the media.
“A new chapter”: NBA fans welcome the Luka Doncic Era
With Luka Doncic getting the most votes among NBA fans, they can now see that the future is him.
Despite ranking 6th among NBA player votes, Doncic was the runaway winner in the entire league when it comes to fan votes. He led Giannis Antetokounmpo in terms of fan votes by 184,569 votes, which led to NBA fans believing that he’s the now of the NBA.

@yagirlkalynn said it straight: “The NBA really is in a new chapter.”
@NobodyYUG went even further, writing, “Face of the League.”
Others couldn’t help dragging LeBron back into it.
@CourtsideAura joked, “LeBron’s going to be extra jealous of Luka being the top dog on the Lakers now.”

Mocking or praising aside, Luka walks into All-Star Weekend with the same thing every superstar eventually gets — expectations, comparisons, and people watching every word.
