NBA fans aren’t exactly thrilled with the latest change at the Delta Center. A new arena rule is now banning signs at games, and the reaction online has been brutal.
Sports Business Journal reported Tuesday that the arena rolled out the restriction as part of a wider push to manage fan behavior and keep the game-day setup cleaner. The Jazz confirmed the move, saying it falls under their updated in-arena conduct guidelines.

The announcement didn’t exactly sit well.
One fan wrote, “But they let Malone in the arena huh.”
Another said, “It’s like they’re committed to shrinking their fan base.”
A third added, “They know fans are gonna be holding up sell the team signs so they had to implement this bs rule.”

The Delta Center isn’t alone in the shift. Madison Square Garden made a similar change a few years back, and other arenas have already softened the blow by putting limits on sign size and content instead of banning them outright. Across the league, teams are pushing for more consistency in how the in-arena experience looks, especially as renovations and digital add-ons take up more space.
“Take it easy on the team”: NBA fans defend the Jazz despite criticism
While plenty of people unloaded on the rule, not everyone is ready to blame the franchise.

One fan pointed out, “The delta center made the rule, not the Jazz, so take it easy on the team lol.”

Another added, “Fans can cheer, just don’t express yourself.”
A third shared their personal gripe with the old setup: “I’ve sat behind a sign before. Sucks spending $ and staring at the back of cardboard unable to see the court.”
For now, nothing suggests the policy will be adjusted later in the season. No exceptions have been announced, and the arena appears committed to the new approach — whether the fan base is on board or not.
