NBA fans have been taking digs at Craig Carton ever since the radio show host pointed out the major dissimilarities between the investigations of the illegal gambling conducted by NBA players and that of MLB legend, Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani was caught in a controversy of his own when he was accused of gambling away $17 million.
However, it was soon revealed that it was not Ohtani, but his interpreter who used the baseball player’s credentials to gamble. The interpreter was sentenced to prison earlier this year. Many fans have been accusing Ohtani of pinning the blame on his interpreter, especially since the investigations concluded in such a short period of time.

“Doesn’t it make you think a little that it’s odd that the investigation into Shohei Ohtani lasted a day and a half? Yes, does that not trouble anybody? Like this was a three-to-four year investigation to nab two guys, one of whom isn’t even playing anymore, but Ohtani was cleared in a day and a half.” Craig Carton said in his show.
MLB ON NOTICE?

“Ohtani runs the league. Untouchable. Cry harder” a seemingly hardcore Ohtani fan said.
“The FBI investigation with Ohtani was an investigation on the bookie. Ohtani’s name came up and it was clear soon after that he was a victim and also, the interpreter confessed.” a fan clarified.
“No…The Feds literally looked into him and the bookie and Ippei for multiple years. Both the Feds and the league cleared him. As if the US gives a sh*t about a foreign national.” another fan noted.
NBA Fans Continue To Support Shohei Ohtani After Craig Carton’s Comments
NBA fans have been showing massive support for Shohei Ohtani after Craig Carton commented on his gambling controversy. Not only basketball fans, but MLB fans have also been majorly showing their support for the player, even if there are many loopholes in the story.

“The FBI looked into Ohtani. They didn’t find anything that incriminated him. The FBI looked into these guys they FOUND evidence that led to arrests. So the same organization that caught the NBA players found nothing on this MLB player. SMH Craig doesn’t know ball or this either.” one fan stated.

“So discount the fact that shohei gave the FBI his phone & financials & the fact that the FBI got audio of Ippei pretending to be shohei lol” another fan added.
“This investigation was across 11 states and involved the Mafia. I imagine that takes time more than a baseball player and his bookie.” Yet another fan echoed.
After the controversy surrounding his interpreter, Shohei Ohtani has managed to gain the sympathy of most baseball fans, who feel that he is simply a victim of fraud. At the same time, there are many who feel that a little more investigation should have been done in this case.
