It’s been a long time coming, but this might be it. NBA fans might just be able to put their mockery of LeBron James’ farewell tour to bed with the recent buzz about his stay in LA.
According to Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, the 2025-26 season may be the last season the Lakers will see James wearing their uniform but it isn’t clear yet whether he’ll be retiring or ending his story with a different team.
From fake retirement announcements to a delayed start in his 22nd season in the league, a lot of signs have been pointing towards LeBron’s last dance.

However, it’s still unclear whether the story ends in LA, or will he go back to where it all started; Cleveland. Fans couldn’t help but dish out more jokes towards the buzz of LeBron’s possible final season with the Lakers.
One fan said, “We have to wait a full season?”

Another added, “no way lebron doing a farewell tour that lasts 3 seasons like he the rolling stones.”
A third wrote, “Lebron dont even know so how would Pincus know.”
The 2025-26 season didn’t start on time for the four-time NBA champion due to sciatica on his right side. He missed 14 games due to the injury, but that didn’t stop him to become the first player in league history to appear in 23 seasons.
If this is the last season he’ll be playing in LA, let alone in the league, he’ll surely be remembered as one of the greatest who ever played the game.
“The definition of greatness”: NBA fans salute LeBron after historic streak ends
The Lakers’ 123-120 win over the Raptors snapped one of LeBron’s most impressive streaks. He had a chance to push his double-digit scoring run to 1,298 games, but he opted for the winning play instead.

With only seconds left, he slipped toward the rim and looked like he had a clean path, but kicked the ball out to Rui Hachimura in the corner. Hachimura drilled the deciding three, ending the streak at 1,297.
Fans praised him for the decision.
One fan wrote, “He made the right play though. Wins over personal records.”

Another added, “Bron sacrificed his legendary 10 pts game streak for the Win. Glad Rui made the three, more than a legend he’s a team player, props to him.”
A third said, “That’s 18 years of consistency. Double digits, every night. The definition of greatness.”
The streak stretched from January 6, 2007, to December 1, 2025 — nearly two decades of nightly reliability.
