NBA fans managed to link the issue of illegal gambling activities in the NBA to the issue of the Epstein Files, as Congress called for a statement from league Commissioner Adam Silver.
Over at X, NBA fans gave their honest opinion on how Congress dipped its toes on the issue of illegal gambling activities in the NBA, as yet another strategy in diverting the issue away from the Esptein Files.

“How bad are those Epstein Files,” one fan said.
The fan comments came after a bipartisan group of six House Energy and Commerce Committee members asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to deliver a briefing by October 31 about the gambling investigations that have entangled the league, aiming to clarify the NBA’s ties to sports betting and assist the committee’s oversight efforts.
The request followed indictments that named Portland coach Chauncey Billups, Miami guard Terry Rozier, and former player Damon Jones among 34 people charged in two federal gambling probes announced by the Eastern District of New York. Silver was asked to address five specific items, including the alleged betting practices involving players, coaches, and officials, and steps the league will take to prevent inside information from being used illegally.
Lawmakers also asked Silver to assess whether the NBA’s current conduct rules for players and coaches sufficiently bar illegal activity, to explain whether the league is reexamining partnerships with betting firms such as DraftKings and FanDuel, and to identify regulatory gaps that may allow illicit betting schemes to persist.
NBA Fans Chime in on Gambling Scandal Issue
Still at X, NBA fans chimed in on their insights on the current hot issue of illicit gambling activities that have been allegedly happening inside the NBA. For some, the government also ought to summon the game officials, they “contribute” heavily to the issue.

“They should subpoena all of the refs, they do a lot of work for the gambling sites,” one fan said.

For one, however, issues in professional sports leagues like the NBA should not be the priority of Congress.
“Congress has much more important things to worry about than the NBA gambling scandal,” they said.
One fan, on the other hand, had a deeper insight on the issue.
“Are they requesting a briefing from the mafia crime family who set up the illegal card games?” they said. “Stephen A. is finally right about something. Trump and the Republicans are going after the NBA because of it’s activism and because it’s a majority Black league. Shameful.”

Right now, NBA fans have their hands full, with the season starting strong in the midst of the hot gambling issues.
