NBA fans proved once again how fast misinformation can travel after a parody account managed to stir up drama involving Steph Curry and his wife, Ayesha.
On Sunday, parody page Hoops Crave posted a fake quote attributed to Ayesha, joking that the most important thing about Steph was “his bank account.” The post spread quickly, with plenty of fans taking the bait and reacting as if it were real.
Some tied it back to comments Ayesha has made in the past about not always believing Steph would reach superstardom.

@UpdatingOnRome didn’t find it funny at all, saying, “How much disrespect can he take?”
Others leaned into the joke. @0xBonke replied, “Where’s the lie?”
A few fans, however, immediately caught on. @Krypto_Khaleesi shut it down by pointing out, “Settle down, HER net worth is estimated 50 million.”
Ayesha has previously spoken about their early years together, notably on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she admitted she never fully expected her high school sweetheart to become one of the greatest players in NBA history. The parody post, though fake, clearly hit on old narratives that fans were quick to revive.
“Steve Kerr with his weekly terrorist action”: NBA fans rage after Steph Curry benching vs. Portland
While the fake Ayesha quote was making the rounds, Warriors fans were dealing with real frustration during Golden State’s 136–131 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Just moments after Curry scored his 40th point and officially passed Michael Jordan for the most 40-point games by a player over 30, head coach Steve Kerr subbed him out late in the fourth quarter. Trayce Jackson-Davis checked in as the game entered its final stretch, and fans felt the momentum instantly disappear.

@kentrellsfan went nuclear: “steve kerr with his weekly terorrist action.”

@8ternell added, “Kerr is currently the Warriors’ worst enemy.”
@SagaciousAlex took it even further, claiming, “He’s been freezing Curry out for years… if it weren’t for him, Curry would have won at least 4 MVPs and 6 rings.”
Between falling for parody posts and questioning late-game decisions, Warriors fans had plenty to argue about — and none of it made Sunday night any easier to swallow.
