NBA fans poked fun at Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown opening up about the issue of his hairspray leaving a stain on opponent players during recent games.

Over at social media platform X, NBA fans poked fun at how Jaylen Brown confidently embraced the issues of him leaving hairspray marks on other players. For one fan, turning the embarrassing moments into a flex is extraordinary.

“Leaving your hairspray residue on people and flexing about it is absolutely insane stuff,” the fan said.

After Brown had interviews following the circulation of videos showing him using hairspray on opponents, he has claimed that he moved from being embarrassed by using hairspray to being amused by it. Now, he sees the actions as being a badge of honour, not embarrassment.

Brown said that he has suffered from hair loss over the past two years and is now working with supplement company Nutrafol to help address his own hair loss and help normalise conversations regarding hair loss for other people. He believes the pressures of winning the title in 2024, as well as the pressure of defending the championship title last season have played a role in the loss of hair.

Brown also framed the viral incidents as part of a broader change in mindset, adding that he feels no longer embarrassed and has now become a more disciplined player and focused athlete, adding that he has joked in the past about leaving another trail of hairspray on his opponents’ heads to help prepare him mentally.

“I was a little bit embarrassed. And then I got mad at myself for being embarrassed at all,” Brown said. “After a while, it was like, ‘Those dudes should be grateful.’ They’re lucky that I left my mark on them. I should get a thank you card: ‘You have the residue of a champion on you. You’re welcome.'”

In the interview, Brown also acknowledged the attention his hair choices have drawn this season but made clear he won’t be cowed by critics, instead leaning into the publicity and the confidence he’s gained from confronting the issue publicly.

NBA Fans Poke Fun on Jaylen Brown’s Hairspray Comment

Over at X, NBA fans reacted to Jaylen Brown calling his hairspray marks on other players “residue of a champion.” For one fan, Brown calling himself champion puts into question the last time he won one.

“Hairspray marks on players?” the fan said. “More like residue of a try-hard. When’s the last time someone won a championship with hairspray, Jaylen?”

One fan, on the other hand, sees the idea of having a stain on opposing players as a good defense strategy.

“Low key, It’s genius branding,” the fan said. “Defenders are gonna think twice now before fighting through screens against him”

Right now, NBA fans are looking forward to see how the Celtics would ultimately fare, with them currently at the 3rd spot of the Eastern Conference.
