NBA fans poked fun at Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant as he faced his former team as part of the Houston Rockets roster.

Over at X, NBA fans talked about the ring ceremony of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and how Kevin Durant, who famously played for the franchise, was there to witness the ceremony.

In a now-deleted post by NBA Centel, Kevin Durant was reported to have gone out during the ceremony and missed it entirely.

“No wife, no kids, no (real) ring, AND you’re sitting out over this!?” one fan said. “You a sucka!”

Kevin Durant, who is now with the Houston Rockets, kicked off his 2025 season on Opening Night by facing his former team, as the Thunder raised their championship banner. Durant stated that he has no hard feelings regarding the circumstances he sometimes faces in Oklahoma City while being very proud of what the franchise has turned into.

In particular, the former OKC star gave praise to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander while remarking that his time in OKC had contributed to his career and the ongoing identification of the city with the NBA.

“It used to bother me a lot, when I would come back, the reception,” Durant said. “I’ve gotten over it. I know what I meant to the city and the franchise and what the city meant to me at that point in my career. I’m happy I had that time there. It was a great place, the best place for me at that time.”

Teammates and former colleagues credit Durant with helping transform the Thunder into a destination for players and a community that grew around the team during his tenure.

“Bro really turned a hometown welcome into a full roast session,” someone else added.

For another fan, Durant simply exhibited himself being the “villin” that most fans have labeled him throughout the years.

“He finally turned into the villain they created,” one fan said.
