“He’ll Blame The Lakers For This”: NBA Fans Pour Fuel To Patrick Beverley’s Lowlight After Arrest For Choking 15-Year-Old Sister

Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley is facing a wave of backlash from NBA fans after his recent arrest for allegedly choking and punching his 15-year-old sister. According to a police affidavit, Beverley confronted his sister after she returned home late with her 18-year-old boyfriend, allegedly grabbing her neck with both hands and squeezing for 20–30 seconds.

His sister says he slammed her body against walls, dragged her while holding her neck, and punched her once in the left eye. She also claims he threatened her life, telling her he “will be the family relative to kill her.”

Online, NBA fans wasted no time in expressing disgust.

One user, @LakeShowYo, wrote: “Pat Beverley allegedly choked & punched his 15yr old sister after catching her home alone with her 18yr boyfriend” — words that underscored the severity of the accusations.

Another commenter, @DeyLuvHuggy, didn’t hold back: “He’ll blame the Lakers for this.” And @omggitsA summed up the moral outrage: “if he was doing this to the boyfriend i’d understand but to your sister?!”

Beverley denies the full version of what’s being said. He posted on X (formerly Twitter),

“Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet,” and through his attorney, claimed he was just being protective. His lawyer argued that the affidavit “is only one side of the story … given at a time when emotions were high,” and insisted that Beverley “is not a violent man.”

He was released on $40,000 bail after being charged with a third-degree felony for “assault of a family or household member impeding breath or circulation.”

Barstool Reactions Explode While NBA Fans Ask Why He’s Still on the Podcast

NBA Fans are not just throwing shade at Beverley — they’re calling out his employer, too. The ex-NBA player still hosts a podcast on Barstool Sports, and folks are questioning why he hasn’t been dropped yet.

One user, @BeyondAvgMick, pointed to Barstool’s own president:

“@stoolpresidente gives an update on Patrick Beverley/Barstool Sports: ‘Pat Bev is still employed’ ‘We stick with our guys until there’s a reason not too’ ‘We will have Pat’s back’”

    That sparked more outrage.

@CapeCodFamous responded: “Choking a 15 year old girl to the point of burst blood vessels in her eyes seems to be a good reason.”

And @Ducket07 didn’t mince words: “Francis got fired for writing about a dead girl. This dude beat the shit out of his little sister. wtf are we doing.”

Indeed, the case has put pressure on Barstool to justify its support. Beverley’s attorney says the affidavit doesn’t tell the full story, arguing the allegations came out in a moment of emotional stress. But for many NBA fans, that defense isn’t cutting it — especially when the alleged victim is his own teenage sister.
