Anthony Davis might finally be back in the mix just as the Dallas Mavericks line up opposite the LA Lakers, and the timing has NBA fans clowning him all over social media.
Marc Stein reported that Davis could suit up on Friday depending on how he comes out of today’s practice. That was enough to set fans off, with many convinced he’s been circling this matchup on the calendar.

One fan wrote, “Mf faked his injury just so he can make a return vs the Lakers.”

Another added, “Dude wants to risk tearing his Achilles to play his former team lmaooo.”
A third said, “Everyone magically heals up when the Lakers are on the schedule.”
Davis has been out since Oct. 29 after a left calf strain against Indiana. Dallas has been navigating the fallout ever since, with Kyrie Irving, Dante Exum, and Dereck Lively also dealing with their own injuries. The 10-time All-Star returning—especially against his old squad—is at least giving Mavs fans something to hope for as they try to dig themselves out of a rough 5–14 start.
“Is this one of those famed Centel predictions?”: NBA fans react to parody account’s guess on Anthony Davis’ return to LA
As if the injury talk wasn’t enough, NBA Centel jumped in with another troll post before the Mavs even landed in Los Angeles.
“BREAKING: The Mavericks are trading Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Clippers,” the parody account posted.
Fans immediately piled on.

Another wrote, “He’s going to be pissed when he figures out it’s the wrong L.A. team!”
A third added, “Bookies around the world are doubtless now adjusting markets based on Centel’s words.”
Davis’ name hasn’t exactly been quiet in the rumor mill. His run in Dallas hasn’t produced the kind of impact the team hoped for, and with Nico Harrison already out as GM, there’s a sense that the franchise is bracing for bigger decisions ahead. Whether Davis’ return on Friday turns anything around—or just fuels more noise—will be the next chapter.
