NBA fans recently gave their honest reactions to Ja Morant’s new three-point celebration that once again involved gestures that looked to be firearms.
Over at social media platform X, NBA fans reacted toa recent viral video showing Ja Morant pulling off a new on-court celebration that once again looked like he was pointing a gun. For one fan, his apparent fascination with guns is becoming a thing of interest.

“What is with this guy and guns,” the fan said.

Another fan offered a humorous explanation for the gesture.
“He’s American, they’d have sex with guns if they could,” they said.
Morant has repeatedly drawn public and league scrutiny for gun‑style celebrations, most recently adopting a grenade gesture after being fined for mimicking a firearm following three‑pointers. On-court celebrations have become a recurring controversy for the Memphis Grizzlies guard, who has been criticized by fans, league officials, and social commentators for gestures that evoke firearms. Most recently, Morant switched to an imaginary “grenade” celebration after being fined for pointing an imaginary long gun following a three‑point basket, a move he said was a substitute until another celebration drew objections.
League and team officials have warned that such gestures can carry consequences beyond fines, with commentators noting that repeated infractions risk heavier punishment or reputational damage for a high‑profile player whose on‑court persona is closely tied to his marketability and team leadership role.
Critics argue that mimicking weapons on the court can be interpreted as glamorizing violence and can distract from the sport, while supporters say celebrations are part of player expression and momentum. The tension has prompted conversations inside the NBA about clearer guidelines and consistent enforcement to balance player expression with public responsibility.

Another fan, on the other hand, drew fun from the idea that they believe Morant won’t be making too many threes, and thus won’t be celebrating much anyway.
“So what he gon do that once every 8 games, cus that’s how many 3’s he make,” the fan said.
With a handful of games left with the regular season, NBA fans are looking forward to potentially more variations of new ja Morant celebrations.
