NBA fans react to the news of a potential landing place for Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, in a rumored trade where he would end up with the Miami Heat.

Over at X, Miami Heat reporter Ira Winderman said that the Heat is currently one of the top spots for Ja Morant in a potential trade, citing that the franchise is “Pat Riley’s home for distressed players.” In the comments, NBA fans reacted to the potential trade and how it would look should it come to reality.

“This is just going to be the Jimmy Butler situation all over again,” one fan said.

Jimmy Butler was traded to the Miami Heat from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2019, where he easily became one of the franchise’s top stars. However, in 2024 to 2025, Butler’s relationship with the franchise leadership started to turn sour, with reports of him clashing with the Heat’s executives over issues on leadership and coaching.

Ultimately, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors, with the Bay Area team giving Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, and a first-round pick in exchange for him.

Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying that the franchise they love and support is “not superstar therapy.”

“It literally be our own media doing this, then we wonder why national media does it,” they said. “WE ARE NOT A SUPERSTAR THERAPY! Especially for a guy who definitely does not fit the culture.”

Recent trade rumors also claimed that the Minnesota Timberwolves have contacted the Grizzlies for a Morant trade, but no deal has been reached yet. Other teams that have been linked to a potential trade include the Sacramento Kings and the Boston Celtics.

NBA Fans Reject Ja Morant Trade to Miami Heat

Despite the news being only a rumor right now, a number of NBA fans seem to be ready to reject a Ja Morant trade from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Miami Heat. For some, Morant would not be able to fit the famous “Heat culture.”

“He is too wild to adopt the Miami Culture!” one fan said. “Great player but I don’t think that he will fit there.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, but thought it could work if the heat could get him at a great value.

“I don’t see the fit here,” they said. “Only makes sense if the Heat can make a discounted trade for Morant.”

For now, NBA fans are on the lookout for an official trade for Ja Morant.
