NBA fans are reacting on social media to Russell Westbrook officially signing with the Sacramento Kings. Westbrook played for the Nuggets in the previous season and will now don the purple and black for the new season.

Recently, NBA Central shared a picture of Westbrook’s new jersey number, 18, to which fans have been having a field day in trolling. Meanwhile, Westbrook himself seems to be pretty pumped to play for the Kings, even sharing a video of him signing with the words, “LIGHT THE BEAM” on his X account.

Fans have been dragging the jersey number itself, with many joking that it might reflect his stats in the upcoming season. The once-upon-a-time MVP has disappointed fans in the previous season with his poor numbers and they are not going to let him forget them unless he makes a strong turnaround.

“Is that going to be his three-point percentage for this year?” One fan excitedly commented.

“Oh nice he chose the number of turnovers he’ll average” Another fan added.

“18+ points per game for Russell Westbrook” One more fan echoed similarly.

NBA Fans Take Dig At Russell Westbrook’s Constant Team Switching

While many NBA fans made fun of Russell Westbrook’s poor scoring over the last season, others poked fun at the veteran player’s huge list of teams. It is common knowledge that Westbrook has been notoriously famous for moving around from team to team, something for which he has been criticized by fans and analysts alike.

“It’s to represent how many teams he’s been on (crying emoji)” An NBA fan said.

“Easiest way for him to keep track of how many teams he’s been on” One more fan humorously pointed out.

“The number of teams he’ll play for before he retires” Another fan said.

The Kings will be Westbrook’s seventh team in the NBA with the player originally starting off his career with OKC. Westbrook will also be entering his 18th season in the league, which is supposed to be why he chose this particular number.  When asked about his upcoming season with the Kings, the player did not hold back his excitement.

“Whatever is asked of me, whatever I need to do that night, I’ll do it.” Westbrook said.

Russell Westbrook also admitted that he is open to all types of roles that Sacramento wants him to accomplish. The veteran is truly happy and thankful with this new opportunity and fans will hope to see a stronger side of him this season.
