The fallout from Luka Doncic’s trade to the Lakers is still very real for NBA fans. But Monday brought a viral moment that softened some of the sting — at least a little.
During the Mavericks’ home game against the Milwaukee Bucks, fan Nicholas Dickason ran into team owner Patrick Dumont in the stands. Dickason has history with Dumont: on opening night against the Spurs, he flipped off the owner in frustration over the trade and the loss.

“I was pretty angered by the trade, so I bought the Lakers jersey as a kind of show my opinion on the trade,” Dickason said.
The kid’s name is Nicholas Dickason.
He said he flipped off Dumont during the Mavericks opening night loss to the Spurs. So, his dad told him to apologize.

Even in a tense moment between fan and owner, social media had its say.
One fan wrote, “I hope he told him to fire Nico (Harrison).”
Another added, “This is damage control set up by Mavs PR. Humanize Dumont prior to the firing of Nico.”
A third noted, “Usually Dumont sits next to Nico… not tonight. Nico sitting all alone in the stands!!”
The drama is layered. Fans aren’t just venting at Dumont; they’re pointing at general manager Nico Harrison, whose tenure has been shaky amid the team’s struggles.
“Damage has already been done”: NBA fans on Nico Harrison’s possible firing
NBA Insider Tim MacMahon reported that Harrison’s days in Dallas might be numbered.

“It’s a matter of when, not if, Nico Harrison will be fired,” MacMahon said.
Nico Harrison’s time with the Mavericks could be coming to an end, as his relationship with ownership has reportedly crumbled, per @BannedMacMahon

Fans immediately circled back to Harrison’s most controversial move: trading Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis, a deal many still question.
One fan said, “Nico Harrison traded Luka and only to get back Fat Anthony Davis. This should cause any executive to get fired.”
Another added, “Damage has already been done.”
A third referenced a parody account on X, writing, “Cental wasn’t wrong, they were just early.”
As the Mavericks struggle on the court and tensions mount off it, Dallas’ fan base is making it clear: Harrison’s next move, or lack thereof, won’t go unnoticed.
