The Golden State Warriors took more than a loss against the Houston Rockets — they also watched Steph Curry head to the bench late with an apparent injury. The moment instantly sent NBA fans into worry mode, knowing how much the four-time champion means to everything the Warriors do.
ESPN’s Shams Sharania later reported that Curry is expected to miss “about a week or a little more” with a quad contusion suffered Wednesday night. The outlook isn’t serious, but the timing still stings for a team trying to regain its footing.
Fans online didn’t hide their concern.

One said, “GSW without Steph is just… State Warriors.”
The Golden State Warriors anticipate Stephen Curry will miss around a week or a little more with a quad contusion suffered Wednesday night, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. Another added, “Warriors without Curry is basically a preseason scrimmage.”
A third wrote, “Prayers for a quick recovery for Steph. I’m thankful it’s nothing serious. Even a week without him changes the whole flow of the Warriors’ offense. The spacing, the scoring, the rhythm, all of it takes a hit until he’s back to full strength.”
Through 16 games, Curry has been carrying a heavy load with averages of 27.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals on efficient shooting. Losing that production — even for a short stretch — puts major pressure on the rest of the roster to hold things together.
“Respect”: NBA fans appreciate Steph Curry’s defensive effort vs. Rockets
Even as the injury news made the rounds, plenty of NBA fans took time to highlight Curry’s defensive energy in the Houston matchup. He spent much of the night trying to disrupt possessions, contest shots, and meet attackers head-on.

One fan wrote, “still holding his own, respect.”

Another said, “Steph is not afraid to get physical.”
A third added, “Chef’s still printing money on D.”
Despite the loss, Curry’s 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks stood out — a reminder that even in year 17, he continues to bring intensity on both ends. For Golden State, the challenge now is surviving the next stretch without the player who holds their entire system together.
