“My boy ready to protect the cash cow,” the fan said .
Another one echoed the sentiment and gave props to the driver for being a fall guy.
“This is what Chris Carter always preached, you gotta have a fall guy,” they said.
Tony Allen was released from the Poinsett County Jail on Nov. 6 after being booked the previous afternoon on drug possession charges, county records show. Allen, 43, was arrested Nov. 5 while riding as a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Interstate 555 and was charged with possession of less than two grams of meth or cocaine and possession of less than four grams of marijuana.
The vehicle’s driver, identified in the incident report as 33‑year‑old William Hatton, faces the same charges, though the report does not make clear why deputies initially pulled the car over.
Deputies said they smelled marijuana, searched the vehicle and its occupants, and found a green leafy substance on Allen that tested positive for marijuana, while a cigarette box in the car yielded a white powder that later tested positive for cocaine.
Allen acknowledged the “optics” of the situation look poor, but stressed his continued commitment to mentoring youth and community work, saying he is confident the facts will ultimately clear him. Local authorities and the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately provide further comment to reporters.

Over at X, NBA fans talked about the arrest that happened on Tony Allen, and in particular, the body cam footage that showed the driver of the vehicle claiming responsibility for the alleged drugs seized. For some fans, the driver should not have said anything but simply remained silent.

“I respect his loyalty but he needs to just be quiet,” one fan said. “You’re in cuffs dude. Already going to jail. Miranda rights. Stfu and get a lawyer.”

Some fans, however, could not connect how a former NBA star would be in the same vehicle with a wrestling promoter, and possibly in possession of drugs.
“What is Tony Allen doing with a professional wrestling promoter,” another fan said, with a crying face emoji.
For the most part, NBA fans are waiting for any further details about this case that 9nvled one of the most recognized retired players of the league.
