With less than a month before NBA All-Star Weekend tips off in Los Angeles, NBA fans managed to entertain themselves with a fake story that felt just believable enough.
A parody account, NBACentel, posted a fake quote claiming Lakers sophomore Bronny James had no interest in playing in the All-Star Game, supposedly saying, “It’s not for me.”
The post wasn’t real — but that didn’t stop fans from running with it.
@Milovxyvy wasted no time, saying, “Dude acting like anyone wants to see him in the all star game anyways lmao.”

@MonkeyTilt piled on, “‘Not for me’ as if he had a choice.”
Others leaned into the sarcasm.
@NotexFi joked, “Not every spotlight needs chasing, kid’s got sense.”
Of course, Bronny was never going to be part of the All-Star conversation in the first place. The Lakers guard finished with just two player votes, keeping him far from anything related to the weekend festivities.
Even LeBron James won’t be starting, finishing eighth among Western Conference frontcourt players when the votes were tallied.

Instead, the West’s starting lineup will feature Nikola Jokic, Stephen Curry, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, and Victor Wembanyama.
Over in the East, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, and Tyrese Maxey earned starting spots.
The remaining reserves will be announced on February 1 via NBC and Peacock ahead of the Sunday Night Basketball doubleheader featuring Knicks–Lakers and Thunder–Nuggets.
“Probably Bron and Draymond”: NBA fans speculate on players who voted for Bronny James
The jokes didn’t stop once the official vote totals dropped.
When fans noticed Bronny finished with only two player votes — despite pulling in 62,600 fan votes — speculation kicked in immediately.

@ogKOBEWAN joked, “Probably bron and Draymond.”
@hulsmashedme added, “austin reeves heard them trade rumors and voted for bronny the same day.”
Others took a more serious angle.
@0xDada_Crypto said, “That vote says more about LeBron’s shadow than Bronny’s season, expectations are already massive.”

Fake quote or not, the moment turned into another reminder of just how much attention follows Bronny — whether he asks for it or not.
